Bridge Collapse in Italy Expected to Cause Transportation Delays

Posted 08/14/2018

A major bridge in Genoa that connects Piedmont and France to the rest of Italy collapsed on Monday killing at least 20 people and creating a disaster of epic proportions. This tragic incident is not only devastating for the families of those lost, but also for Italy's aging infrastructure. As the bridge was the main connecting passage from Piedmont or France to Tuscany, trucks delivering to La Spezia or Livorno ports will need to be diverted until the bridge can be reconstructed. Increased delays and costs should be expected as the bridge is rebuilt. Rest assured, we will do our best to mitigate delays and cost increases for our customers through this process.
