West Coast Update

Posted 07/27/2022

In a brief midweek update, terminals at the Port of Oakland are still operating "normally" following last week's protests causing terminals to shut down operations and gate hours. Thankfully, so far this week, the port has had a chance to work on the backlog that had built up during the stoppage time from last week. While the threat of protests is not entirely gone, for now operations are flowing.

In other news, the ILWU and PMA have announced that they've reached an agreement on health benefits. While this is just one facet of the contract issues the two parties are negotiating, the industry hopes that this is a positive sign that further agreements may be reached. We will continue to keep tabs on any developments to this situation.
