As reported by the AgTC, some West Coast ports are still struggling with congestion and backlog. With the limited availability of chassis, the entire unloading process takes longer and, as a result, terminals charge transaction fees and truckers charge stand-by fees for waiting at the gates.

Albatrans Canada has recently been approved by the NSLC as a quality Third Party Service provider. Albatrans will work with suppliers/agents in respect to consolidation, freight forwarding, ocean freight movement, and custom/excise documentation for imported alcoholic beverages from a variety of origins through the Port of Halifax. They will also assist with drayage, deconsolidation, warehousing and outbound freight to the NSLC and other predetermined destinations.

A forest fire in France that began Friday afternoon is still raging today as crews work to contain what is said to be one of the country’s worst fires in the past five years. Strong winds have helped to perpetuate the blaze which, up to this point, has consumed 1,360 acres of forest on the edges of Bordeaux.

Because of the nature of the wind, the fire has been unpredictable, and it could take several more days before crews can get it fully under control.
