Dorian Update - Freeport, Bahamas

Posted 09/03/2019

Sadly, Hurricane Dorian has devastated all the Bahamian islands and a state of emergency has been called. Humanitarian aid will be needed, and at the moment the islands are focused on gathering as many people as possible to find dry shelters.

With the state of the islands at this time, vessel operations at Freeport will remain closed until further notice. As this is a large transshipment port for MSC, the carrier has put in place a contingency plan for vessels that traditionally call the port. Some vessels are omitting their calls, others have been redirected and still others are proceeding directly to Europe.

Our thoughts are with all the people impacted by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas and we hope no further devastation will be caused. If you have any specific questions about potential delays to your shipments, please contact your freight forwarder.
