Mexico Tariff Threat Over (for now)

Posted 06/10/2019

US business entities are relieved that Trump pulled the threat of added tariffs on Mexican goods over the weekend. A preliminary deal was made, but whether that deal will hold will remain to be seen.

The tariffs were threatened initially to stop the flow of immigration from Mexico into the United States, and Trump has announced that he will monitor the immigration volume to make sure that Mexico is holding to their side of the agreement. For now, businesses can rest easy knowing that no additional tariffs will be imposed immediately.
