Port of NY/NJ Closure Update

Posted 01/25/2016

Port Authority operations and our marine terminal partners have been working around the clock to remove the record 28 inches of snow at the Port of NY & NJ.

Based on a conference call with the terminal operators and all support services (i.e. trucking, chassis, rail etc.), Global Container Terminal (Staten Island) and Red Hook Container Terminal (Newark and Brooklyn) will resume operations and be open on Tuesday, January 26th at 8:00 AM. Please check TIPS or individual terminal websites for details on any extended hours, restrictions etc.

GCT Bayonne, APM Terminals, Port Newark Container Terminal and Maher Terminals will remain closed for continued snow removal operations. Free time will be extended by another day for containers that are not already in demurrage.

As a reminder, in order to keep traffic flowing on the roadways and for the safety of everyone, there is no overnight parking and no queuing on public roadways.

Terminal queuing will not be permitted before 5:30 A.M. once full operations are restored.

Truckers should plan accordingly and stagger their arrival using all available hours to help limit congestion.
