Public Workers Strike Indefinitely

Posted 11/10/2016

We received word from our office in Chile that the Chilean public workers were unable to reach an agreement with the country’s government to increase their salaries. As a result, public workers have begun a strike which, as of now, is to continue indefinitely.

Due to the strike, Chilean Customs is working with the 50% of its employees, and the port operations in San Antonio and Valparaiso have become significantly slower. The pass between Argentina and Chile, where Customs is operating with less than half its staff, is experiencing extreme slowdowns as well.

We will keep you informed about the development of this situation. If you have any questions or concerns about the movement of your cargo, feel free to call or email us.
