Strike Activity & Disruption Updates - USWC and France

Posted 06/05/2023

After Oakland terminals were closed on Friday, we were hoping for better news on the West Coast situations over the weekend. Unfortunately, yesterday, at least one terminal at the Port of Long Beach announced it will be closed for operations today. Some other terminals may follow suit. These actions appear to be in direct relation to the ongoing contract negotiations between West Coast terminal and dockworkers and their employers. While today's closure may impact cargo flow and bring about potential delays, we hope that this situation gets rectified as soon as possible.

Across the Atlantic, France continues to experience disruption with strike activity. Unions have once again called for strikes related to the Pension Reform issues. Le Havre and Fos-sur-Mer ports will be impacted by these strikes with the following closure dates and times:

  • Le Havre port closures:
    • June 6th, from 9am to 1pm
    • June 7th, from noon to 4pm
    • June 8th, from noon to 4pm
  • Fos sur Mer port will be closed on June 6, 7 and 8th, from 11am to 3pm

We will continue to keep informed on these situations and provide updates as appropriate.
