Strike Days in Spain Cancelled

Posted 03/16/2017

Stevedores in Spain have cancelled their remaining strike days after the Stowage Reform Law they were opposing was shot down. Now the Congress of Deputies is calling for a re-write of the law and stevedores are rejoicing. As part of the celebration, the remaining strike days - originally scheduled for the 17th, 20th, 22nd, and 24th of March - have been called off.

While this is a step in the right direction, the situation at Spanish ports is still uncertain. Negotiations between the National Association of Stevedoring, the Ship Consignment Companies (Anesco), and the stevedores' unions will continue, all parties searching for an agreeable solution to the conflict.

We will keep you posted of further developments. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
