Strikes Continue in France

Posted 01/13/2020

Unfortunately, there appears to be no end in sight for the strikes and disruptions in France. Our French offices report that the situation is getting worse as new strikes seem to be announced every week. Just this morning, we received reports of the below strikes at French ports:

  • January 14, 15, and 16, at ports/terminals in Le Havre and Fos sur Mer. It is likely containers will not be able to enter terminals during this time period.
  • January 17, 18, 19, impacting tugs at Fos sur Mer port. This will likely result in vessels not being able to maneuver/operate correctly during this time frame.

With the above work stoppages affecting service at both ports, it is likely that Refrigerated containers scheduled to load this week will be delayed until next week, as there is too much risk of incurring charges or being unable to secure timely arrival to terminals.

As always, we will keep you informed of any changes or updates on this issue. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us
