USTR Decision on France's DST Trade Dispute

Posted 07/13/2020

Over the weekend the USTR announced its decision regarding the French digital service tax dispute. Fortunately, beverage alcohol products were not included in the list of items chosen to receive additional tariffs - a big victory for the industry!

The 21 items on the list that are set to receive tariffs of 25 percent are handbags and cosmetics. According to the USTR they will, "continue to monitor the effects of the trade action and the progress of discussions with France and may adopt appropriate modifications." Following this good news, the alcohol beverage industry can now breathe a sigh of relief knowing no additional tariffs will be imposed.
