Delays Due to Grand River Bridge Outage

Posted 10/24/2019

Rail service offered by Norfolk Southern running between Moberly and Kansas City, Missouri, has been suspended due to the Grand River Bridge collapse in Brunswick, Missouri.

The bridge outage came after structural damage from heavy rains and debris weakened the bridge and compromised its supports. The Norfolk Southern Engineering crews are working around the clock to repair and restore the bridge. All restoration work is expected to be completed no later than November 6th.

For now, rail traffic has been detoured through alternative rail lines and gateways, and the Kansas City terminal is still open and active. However, all traffic originating or terminating in the Kansas City area may see a delay of 48-72 hours.
