Parts of Europe are still experiencing very hot summer conditions. Our contacts in Italy have reported temperatures hovering around 39�C/102�F. Spain’s current temperatures range from 30�C/86�F to +38�C/100�F, as shown in the graphic below.

The Journal of Commerce reports that new mega-ships are creating congestion for the two largest port complexes in the United States – Los Angeles/Long Beach and New York/New Jersey. Contributing to the congestion is the staggering number of containers that must be unloaded from the mega-ships in a relatively short period of time. And, as the ports with the highest number of container moves per vessel call, “it is not surprising that Los Angeles-Long Beach and New York-New Jersey experience more congestion than other U.S.

The 3-day Customs strike in Argentina that was scheduled to begin July 10th did not come to fruition. Therefore, Argentinean Customs is operating as usual until further notice.

As reported last week, the pass between Argentina and Chile continues to experience sporadic closures due to inclement weather conditions.

The pass between Mendoza, Argentina, and Santiago, Chile, was closed today due the bad weather conditions in the mountains. Unfortunately, this bad weather could persist until Monday.
