17th Annual Port Industry Day: Navigating a Changing Industry

A number of French unions have announced strikes for this month. Truck drivers belonging to the CGT and Force Ouvriere, France’s second and third largest unions announced they will start a rolling strike on September 25th. The strike is brought forth following the French Prime Minister, Edouard Philippe moving ahead with a bill that would affect pay and working conditions that would continue to enforce France’s strict labor laws. Two additional unions have also called for strikes on September 18th, 2017.


In the wake of Hurricane Irma, most of the Southeast ports are beginning to reopen. Port Miami, Port Everglades, Port Tampa Bay and Port of Charleston reopened yesterday, September 12th. The US Coast Guard and the Georgia Ports Authority also reopened Port Savannah as of this morning.
