Value Protection
Are you protected?
Marine insurance isn’t something shippers should have; it’s something shippers must have. WSSA offers a value protection program that includes all-risk coverage for alcohol beverage shipments worldwide across sea, air, and land.
Who it’s for: Any global importer or exporter of Wine, Beer, Spirits, and other select beverages, plus related merchandise incidental to your business.
Global protection modes: Sea • Air • Land

What’s Covered
Our program covers normal transportation losses and the perils most likely to impact beverage shipments:
- Label Damage
- Heating/Freezing
- Mysterious Disappearance
- War, Riot, Strike, and Terrorism (WSRCC)
- Breakage
- Concealed Damage
- Shortage
- Return Goods
- Costs of Salvage
- Debris Removal
- Hurricane, Tornado, and Flood
- Atmospheric Conditions
Temperature Protection, Simplified
Reefer Moves: Always protected for heating/freezing under All-Risk standard coverage. If you are shipping with thermal blankets, check out our page on Optional Temperature Coverage!

Cargo Insurance vs.
Carrier Liability
Carrier liability insurance protects transportation companies for their legal responsibility for lost, damaged or delayed cargo. This coverage is typically limited by weight or package and the full value of the cargo is not covered. Additionally, carrier negligence must be proven and it excludes Acts of God and shipper errors.
Importers and exporters need separate cargo insurance to guarantee the full value of their product is covered. WSSA’s all-risk program is designed for alcohol beverage cargo and related merchandise, helping you recover quickly when issues arise.
