Chile Truckers’ Strike Continues

Posted on: November 03, 2026

The strike of independent truckers is continuing in Chile and is impacting cargo movement in the San Antonio port area. The truckers have been on strike since October 29 and have immobilized about 200 trucks in the area. They are also blocking access to cargo depots, making it difficult to obtain empty containers.

The port terminals remain operational so the main issue is getting the equipment and finding trucks available. The port of Valparaiso is not blocked and re-routing cargo to Valparaiso is a good option to keep cargo moving. Keep in mind that there are two blank (cancelled) sailings on the direct service (ONE, CMA, and COSCO) from San Antonio port to the US East Coast this week and next week. These omissions are limiting the overall capacity so please monitor your shipments closely. Should you need any further details on the situation, please let us know.
