The primary road between Mendoza and Chile, Los Libertadores Border Crossing (Cristo Redentor System), unfortunately was closed again as of 1:00 pm today, Monday, August 24, due to a new weather system affecting the high mountain area, in order to ensure safe transit conditions. Per the latest authority reports, the adverse weather is expected to persist for several days and could continue through August 31, so reopening will remain subject to weather conditions and safety assessments by Chilean and Argentine authorities. Some of the backlog was cleared out over the past week but the 34 day closure of the pass delayed over 3000 trucks from making the crossing. Re-routing options are available but at a significant cost. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and keep you informed of any further developments or changes to current operating conditions.
