Spain and New Zealand Weather Disruptions
Spain Freight Rail Services: Due to heavy rains in Barcelona, passenger and freight rail services have been suspended since yesterday, causing congestion at origin railheads (notably Zaragoza) and temporary suspension of local freight services. This weather event primarily affects containers scheduled for intermodal loading from Zaragoza and La Rioja. Currently, all-motor pre-carriage is the only alternative and if you have any urgent orders in this region, we suggest you check on the status. We have no information yet on when rail service will be restored, but will send an update when we have news.
New Zealand Storms: A record-breaking storm and heavy rain on New Zealand’s North Island (Jan 21–22, 2026) has prompted states of emergency in several districts, particularly Northland, Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and parts of Gisborne, causing flooding, slides, road closures and likely disruption to road, rail and port operations; this may delay or require rescheduling of New Zealand-origin shipments in the coming days. Should you have urgent shipments in these regions, we suggest you check on the status and please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions on affected areas or specific wineries and we will consult with our team in New Zealand. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary. |
