Port Strikes in France and Italy on October 30

Posted on: October 27, 2026

French trade unions will hold new strike actions at French ports on Friday, October 30, expected to last 24 hours. This falls on the same day as the planned port terminal strike in Italy.

What to expect in France: potential delays to container handling where terminal workers join stoppages, along with possible adjustments to vessel schedules or port calls. Participation by inland transport and logistics workers could also disrupt collections, deliveries, and onward distribution by road and rail. Once normal operations resume, some terminals may see temporary backlogs, adding to the existing backlog at the Terminal de Normandie in Le Havre. These are potential consequences rather than confirmed network-wide disruptions.

Shipments moving through French or Italian ports around October 30 should plan for possible delays. Our teams are monitoring both situations and will advise on any affected shipments and share updates as they become available.
